What to do if this ELD is revoked
FMCSA’s notice says drivers using this device are out of service as of April 14, 2026.
When FMCSA removes an ELD for failing the technical specifications in 49 CFR Appendix A to Subpart B of Part 395, its notices tell motor carriers and drivers to:
- Stop using the revoked ELD.
- Use paper logs, or logging software, to record the required hours of service.
- Replace it with a device that is still on the registered ELD list before the date in that notice. FMCSA has been giving about 60 days, and the date is written in the notice.
FMCSA says that on or after that date, continued use is a violation of 49 CFR 395.8(a)(1), “No record of duty status,” and the driver will be placed out of service under the CVSA out-of-service criteria. If the provider corrects the deficiencies, FMCSA says it will put the device back on the registered list and tell the industry.
