What to do if your ELD is revoked
FMCSA’s notice is the clock. This page is the shopping step after that: pick a device that is still on the registered list, and match the ELD ID you will actually install.
The paper-log and out-of-service instructions FMCSA has published stay on what to do if your ELD is revoked. This guide does not repeat them and it is not legal advice.
Data from FMCSA, updated October 20, 2026 (US Eastern).
The replacement row says registered
- Where the fact comes from
- FMCSA registered and revoked exports, mirrored on this site.
- If it fails
- Do not buy it as the replacement. Open the revoked list and the device page.
The ELD ID matches the hardware you will install
- Where the fact comes from
- The ELD ID column on the device page.
- If it fails
- A brand can have a registered model and a removed model. The brand is not the check.
Other rows under that company name
- Where the fact comes from
- The vendor page on this site, counted from the same export.
- If it fails
- Read the removed rows before you treat the company name as clean. A mixed list is not proof the registered model is noncompliant. It is a reason to match the ID.
The device name does not start with a symbol
- Where the fact comes from
- The device name on the export. A leading !, #, period, or quotation mark sorts the name above A.
- If it fails
- That position is not an FMCSA ranking. Read the sketchy-ELD page before you pay.
Price and contract are on the vendor’s own page
- Where the fact comes from
- The vendor’s public pricing page, with the date it was checked.
- If it fails
- If the page does not list them, the price is not published. Do not fill it in from a review, a reseller, or a forum.
The out-of-service date is the one in the notice
- Where the fact comes from
- FMCSA’s news post that names the device.
- If it fails
- This site does not add 60 days. If no notice names the device, this site does not invent a deadline.
One revoked row, read as a switch
TRUCKSTAFF ELD from Truckstaff ELD is revoked on June 23, 2026. ELD ID TRS227. FMCSA’s stored notice “Drivers Using TRUCKSTAFF ELD Revoked Device Will Be Placed Out-Of-Service” (August 23, 2026) and out of service August 23, 2026.
A replacement for that truck is not “whatever else the company sells.” It is a different device whose own row is registered today. Search that ELD ID on the checker. Read the vendor page before you assume the company has another registered model.
Before you pay the next vendor
Use how to spot a sketchy ELD for symbol-prefixed names and recent self-revocations. Use cheapest ELD options before you believe a price that is not on the vendor’s site. The revoked list is the full set of removed rows in this export (130 FMCSA-revoked, 239 self-revoked).

Questions
- What do I do first if my ELD is revoked?
- Read the FMCSA notice that names your device, then stop using it on the schedule that notice writes down. The steps FMCSA has published are on the what-to-do page. This guide starts after that: how to pick a replacement that is still registered. It is not legal advice. Export updated October 20, 2026.
- How do I know a replacement is still registered?
- Search the ELD ID, not the brand. The replacement’s row on the FMCSA registered list has to say registered. A company can have one registered model and another revoked or self-revoked model under the same name.
- Does ELD Watch add 60 days to the revocation date?
- No. The revocation date on the export is the removal date. The out-of-service date and the replace-by date are copied only when FMCSA’s notice states them.
- Where should I look before I pay for the next ELD?
- Confirm the new ELD ID on the registered list, read whether that company name has other removed rows, ignore a symbol at the start of a name, and treat a missing price as not published. Do not use a price from a review or a forum.
