Motive vs Garmin eLog

The public difference is the hardware bill. Motive does not publish an ELD price. Garmin lists $249.99 USD for one part number and says subscription fees are none. A driver may still need a phone or a dēzl. The part number is one bill, not a score.

Data from FMCSA, updated October 20, 2026 (US Eastern).

Garmin eLog
Part 010-01876-00 lists $249.99 USD. Spec line: “Subscription fees: None.” Ports on that page: 9-pin J1939; 6-pin J1708 (adapter included). The page does not name an ELD ID, so $249.99 USD is not stored on the registry rows. Not checked on those rows.

What the driver uses

Motive ELD
Motive’s pairing article says the Driver App pairs to the Vehicle Gateway over Bluetooth on Android and iOS.
Garmin eLog
The product page says “Smartphone compatible: yes (Android and Apple mobile devices with Bluetooth and GPS capability)” and “Android 4.1.x or higher; Apple 9+.” The setup page says to install the Garmin eLog app from the app store on your mobile device, or open it on a compatible dēzl with Android. The owner’s manual has sections for transferring a file to an inspector by USB and by Bluetooth, which matches the export’s “Local (USB, Bluetooth).”

Why this is not a cheapest ranking

$249.99 USD is the list price of part 010-01876-00 on Garmin’s store. Motive’s service price is not published, so the two numbers cannot be subtracted. A dēzl named on the GE1D01 row is a different Garmin product. This page does not assign the adapter’s price to that row.

Questions

Does Garmin publish an ELD price?
Garmin’s product page for Garmin eLog™ Compliant ELD, part 010-01876-00, lists $249.99 USD. A spec line says “Subscription fees: None.” Checked October 21, 2026. The page does not name an FMCSA ELD ID. The three Garmin International rows on the export updated October 20, 2026 do not include a price, so this site does not copy $249.99 USD onto GE1A01, GE1I01, or GE1D01.
Does Motive publish an ELD price?
No. Motive’s pricing URL redirects to a contact form. Checked October 21, 2026. The registry row for ELD ID MOTIVE has no price. Contract terms are not published.
How does the registry describe data transfer?
Every Garmin International row says “Local (USB, Bluetooth).” Motive’s data-transfer cell is blank. A blank cell means the export did not publish a method. It does not mean Motive cannot transfer a file.
Are the Garmin eLog rows registered?
Yes. Garmin International has 3 registered rows and 0 revoked or self-revoked rows: ELD IDs GE1A01, GE1I01, GE1D01. Software on each row is “9.50 or later.”
